Chromach was created along with the rest of the Kestora by the Great Beings, who placed them in the Red Star, an engine responsible for retrieving and reviving sapient beings from the Matoran Universe.

Early on, the Red Star malfunctioned, and the Kestora found that they could no longer send revived beings back to the Matoran Universe. Hoping to locate the source of the problem, the Kestora dissected some of these beings. When Gaardus was revived on the Red Star, the Kestora encountered him, and came to blame him for the malfunction.

The Red Star would remain like this for many years, slowly filling up with revived sapient beings. The Great Being Artakha eventually noticed the Red Star's malfunction, and traveled to the Red Star to take on the responsibility of teleporting deceased beings manually.

When he arrived, he gained the opportunity to observe the revived beings up close, and was shocked to find that the once-artificial beings had true spirits within them.

Artakha reached out to Yukore, an expert of spirit manipulation, to assist him in analyzing the spirits. Together, they formed the Ministry of the Red Star, and decided to provide an afterlife for the departed spirits, repurposing the space station as a stepping stone in that journey.

Artakha selected Chromach to act as his servant in gathering spirits from the universe. He upgraded Chromach's body, which made him stronger and larger than the other Kestora, and granted him sapience. He was also given him the ability of spirit-sight, and the ability to manipulate the distance between objects.

With the help of Yukore, Artakha began to study Spirit Judgement, and would eventually gain the ability to perfectly judge if a spirit's destiny was good, evil, or incomplete. Chromach was then tasked with ferrying the revived beings on the Red Star to Artakha, so that they could be judged.

Eventually, the Matoran Universe ceased functioning, and therefore no longer automatically teleported and revived deceased beings. All the revived beings were eventually cleared from the Red Star, and Chromach's duties changed to ferrying all departed spirits in the universe to the Red Star for judgement.

When Pohatu and Kopaka were stranded on the Red Star by Gaardus, Chromach encountered them and transported them safely back to Spherus Magna.

Abilities & Tools

Chromach was artificially upgraded by Artakha, and became an Elite Kestora. As an Elite Kestora, Chromach is stronger and larger in size than an average Kestora, and fully sapient.

Artakha granted Chromach two unique abilities, spirit sight, and distance manipulation.

Spirit-sight grants Chromach the ability to see all spirits in the universe, but the ability blinded him as a side effect. Eventually, he learned to live without the need for his physical eyes, which he now covers with a blindfold.

Distance manipulation allows Chromach to manipulate the distance between objects for himself and those he ferries. He uses this ability to travel universe-sized differences in mere moments. He can also apply this ability to spirits when combined with his spirit-sight, which allows him to observe any spirit's final moments.

Chromach was given a scythe by Artakha, which he uses for self defense while traveling the universe. The scythe can transform into a fully functional sniper rifle, and has several different blade configurations. The scythe is also capable of capturing a spirit within itself, which is what allows Chromach to ferry spirits across the universe.

Personality

Chromach is a loyal, obedient servant, and is eternally grateful to Artakha for the improvements to his body. He is an eloquent speaker, and likes to joke about death to the spirits he ferries.

Chromach is also fairly easygoing, and has been caught slacking off on his duties multiple times by Artakha.
