Ancient was one of the earliest specimens of the Shadowed One's species. He rebelled against the harsh rules of his homeland and created a new life hiring himself out to clients. His actions transformed his peaceful home into a divided land ruled by warlords. He and the Shadowed One met at the end of a civil war on their homeland, and the idea for the Dark Hunters was born. He took on the code name "Ancient" as he was created early in the history of his species. Journeying together, Ancient and the Shadowed One discovered the island of Odina, where they seeded the base of their new organization. At some point after this, the Order of Mata Nui paid Ancient and assigned him to spy on the Dark Hunters.

Ancient would go on to complete many more missions for the Dark Hunters, including recruiting Hakann and Vezok, acting as a field commander on Metru Nui during the Toa-Dark Hunter War, and working with Voporak in search of the Vahi - all the while reporting the organizations movements back to the Order of Mata Nui.

After the Great Cataclysm, Ancient stood on Odina's beach while the island's fortress was being rebuilt, watching the sea for Lariska's return. As he did so, he received a hidden message in the form of a flying Rahi formation. The message ordered Ancient to convince the Shadowed One to help the Order of Mata Nui. If the Dark Hunter leader refused, Ancient was to kill him. Ancient persuaded the Shadowed One, and the two traveled to Xia with a large fleet of Dark Hunters. When the Dark Hunters occupied the island, Ancient delivered reports to the Order of Mata Nui on the Shadowed One's actions and the state of Xia.

While on Xia, Ancient found the Shadowed One alongside the body of a dead Vortixx. The Shadowed One had discovered the virus-filled vials that Makuta Kojol had brought to Xia prior to his death. He told Ancient that he planned to use the viruses, and then the Dark Hunter leader disintegrated his old friend to maintain the secret.

Abilities & Tools

Ancient was quite strong, and his armor could not be penetrated by most physical attacks.

Like all other members of the Order of Mata Nui, Ancient's mind was shielded from mental attack. 

Ancient wore boots containing levitation Kanoka that allowed him to float when he stomped against the ground. He also carried a Rhotuka Launcher upgraded for rapid fire. He could launch Rhotuka that robbed a target of all physical coordination.

Personality

Ancient cared only about his payment and worked for those who ensured the highest reward. Ancient was affiliated with the Order of Mata Nui for profit.
