'Malice' - Dark Hunter Spy

Backstory

Malice is a Vortixx from the Island of Xia who was adept at inventing. For many years, she worked for a corporate alliance that produced weapons, and rose to a position of prominence in that corporation. Later, the corporation would sell her designs to a rival corporation of hers without her permission, which greatly angered her. She took revenge on both corporations by hacking into their facilities and starting a chemical reaction which burned them both to the ground.

Shortly after, she fled Xia and joined the Dark Hunters, where she was given the codename 'Malice,' based on her past actions.

The Dark Hunters would later discover an Ancient Toa of Lightning named Mars living in the Southern Islands, and forcibly recruited him into the organization. He was partnered with Malice, and they completed many assignments together.

The Shadowed One later learned of an artifact of power called the 'Master Spark' hidden on a remote island. The artifact was rumored to amplify any energy sent through it tenfold. Mars and Malice were tasked with retrieving the artifact, and bringing it to The Shadowed One.

Mars and Malice successfully recovered the artifact, but at the last minute, Mars betrayed Malice, leaving her stranded on the remote island. Mars returned to Odina with the artifact, but The Shadowed One was not shocked to find him alone, as this was typical Dark Hunter behavior.

Malice eventually returned to Odina to find it had been partially demolished, and Mars had escaped. The Shadowed One punished her for her failures, sending her on many horrible assignments over the next 1000 years.

Malice continued to work for the Dark Hunters for many years, participating in the Toa-Dark Hunter War, the Dark Hunter's millennium-long war against the Brotherhood of Makuta, and the Order of Mata Nui's war against the Brotherhood.

Directed by the Order, The Dark Hunters invaded Xia, and The Shadowed One would soon decide to occupy the island as a new base of operations, which annoyed Malice greatly.

After the Dark Hunters successfully conquered Xia, Malice returned to the site of her original corporation, and found the factory had been rebuilt since she left. She looted the facility, and used its technology to create an army of remote-controlled drones, and a helmet that could control them. Armed with this new technology, The Shadowed One assigned her to spy on the Order of Mata Nui.

Some time later, a virus broke out on Xia, killing many Vortixx. Malice and the other Dark Hunters remained active, but The Shadowed One disappeared.

Abilities & Tools

Malice wields a glaive with a blunted blade as her primary weapon. The blade on the opposite end of the glaive is razor-sharp.

Malice is highly skilled in creating new inventions. Using technology she looted from Xia, she constructed a small army of remote-controlled drones, and designed a helmet that controlled them.

Her Recon Helmet is capable of controlling multiple drones at a time, and also has built-in night vision.

Each of her drones is capable of flight and remote surveillance, which feeds back to her Recon Helmet. Many of her drones are also armed with miniature lances that can shoot lasers.

Malice also has one larger, sturdier drone which is not controlled by her, but instead runs on a complex AI. It has a much more limited range, and is a different color from the others. She often fights alongside the drone in close-quarters combat, as this drone is her favorite.

Personality

Malice is very intelligent, and is highly skilled at inventing. She is also known to be kind and hospitable to her fellow Dark Hunters. However, she has become more of a quiet loner since being betrayed by Mars.

Malice also likes collecting things, and has many trinkets from her time working for the Dark Hunters.

Trivia

Malice is directly inspired by Alice Margatroid, a character from the Touhou Project series. Her name and some aspects of her character design where based directly on Alice. Malice also shares Alice’s theme, 'Doll Judgement ~ The Girl Who Played with People's Shapes.'
