King of Luna Magna - Luna Magnan Toa of Air & Moonshadow

Backstory

Gringat and all the Matoran of Luna Magna were created by the Great Beings to inhabit the planet of Luna Magna after their failure to create a peaceful civilization on Spherus Magna. However, not long after their creation, the Matoran began warring over powerful Moonlight Energy Crystals that were mined from the planet. Seeing their failures on Spherus Magna reoccur, the Great Beings left Luna Magna.

Gringat was one of the few Matoran who refused to participate in the Mining War, believing it to be barbaric. However, the Great Being Kae-Oss sought him out, causing a Red Moonlight Crystal to emerge from the ground and forcibly transform Gringat into a Toa. Once the crystal's energy was expended, Kae-Oss used it to carve the Luna Dial & bestowed it to Gringat.

Seeing an opportunity to end the Mining War, Gringat stepped up to take command of several smaller factions of warring Matoran. Using strength in numbers, and his new Toa powers, he was easily able to overthrow and unite most of the warring factions. After the entire planet was under Gringat's control, he founded the Kingdom of Luna Magna, and named himself King.

Gringat used the Moonlight Crystals mined by his subjects to transform loyal Matoran into an army of Toa to enforce his Kingdom. Once his army was built, he used it to finish off any remnants of opposition left over from the Mining War.

Many years later, Gringat would discover a Matoran of Moonlight encased within another Red Moonlight Crystal that had mysteriously appeared in the center of the Great Palace of Luna Magna. Once she was freed, Gringat named her his heir, in case something where to ever happen to him. Gringat named her 'Leimera' which roughly translates to 'Daughter of Moonlight' in the Matoran language.

Gringat went on to witness the Dimensional Relocation of Luna Magna, an incident where a dimensional rift opened in the sky and pulled the planet into the Prime Universe. Gringat blamed the disaster on the negligence of the Great Spirit Mata Nui, and after nearly losing the Luna Dial, banned all non-Luna Magnans from ever setting foot on the planet, and labeled Mata Nui as an enemy to the Kingdom.

In his paranoia to protect the Luna Dial, Gringat commissioned the construction of an underground bunker to contain the artifact. He appointed Chilluno to stand guard over the Luna Dial. Once it became evident that Mata Nui would not invade Luna Magna, Gringat altered the purpose to the bunker to serve as a challenge to his army. If a Luna Magnan were to be able to navigate the bunker and defeat Chilluno, they would be allowed to keep the Luna Dial for themselves, and gain the title 'Champion of Luna Magna.'

Abilities & Tools

As a Toa of Air, Gringat can create, control, and absorb Air and Air Elemental energy. He can also suck the air out of an environment to create a vacuum.

After the becoming a Toa, Gringat began training to unlock his Moonlight Elemental abilities, and successfully became one of the few Luna Magnans to do so. In addition to his Air powers, he is now able to create, control, and absorb Moonlight and Moonlight Elemental Energy.

Not long after, Gringat began pushing his Moonlight powers to the absolute limits. Unknowingly guided by the Great Being Kae-Oss, he became the only Luna Magnan to be able to manipulate the corrupted form of Moonlight, Moonshadow. In addition to his other powers, he is now able to create, control, and absorb Moonshadow and Moonshadow Elemental Energy.

Gringat carries twin Crescent Blades for combat. These blades can be infused with his Air elemental powers.

Gringat wears a Kanohi Zatth, the Great Mask of Summoning. Atop his mask, he wears a crown which is topped with a fragment of moonlight crystal sourced from his Toa transformation.

Personality

Gringat has a calm and elegant air about him, but is known to burst into fits of rage when things don't go his way. Many of his Matoran subjects are aware of his unjust rulings and ruthless history, but smartly choose not to cross him or his army.

Gringat feels remorse for his actions during the Mining War, but has convinced the population of Luna Magna that it was a necessary sacrifice to prevent the war from destroying the planet.

Gringat has an almost paternal relationship with Leimera. He trains her every day to follow his legacy to someday lead the Kingdom.
