Backstory

Hydraxon was originally a member of the Hand of Artakha. After the organization disbanded, he was invited to join the Order of Mata Nui by Helryx. As one of his first missions, Hydraxon was tasked with recruiting fellow former Hand member Axonn into the Order.

Hydraxon was later called upon to train the Toa Mata in melee combat, fighting them himself and unleashing his Energy Hound, Spinax, upon them. He also tested their compatibility with one another, unmasking them, placing them in hard to reach areas, and forcing them to work together as a team.

After he finished training the Toa Mata, Hydraxon was assigned to be the jailer of the Pit. There, he was assisted by several Maxilos robots. At some point, he gave custody of Spinax to one of the Maxilos robots. When the Pit was impacted during the Great Cataclysm, its dome was shattered and a cave-in ensued. Hydraxon was badly injured during the event and tried to stop the inmates from trying to escape, only to be killed by one of his prisoners, Takadox.

Hydraxon was then transported to the Red Star to be revived and sent back to the Matoran Universe. However, as the return function of the Red Star suddenly malfunctioned, Hydraxon was unable to be returned to the Matoran Universe, and remains trapped in the Red Star as a result.

One thousand years later, the Kanohi Ignika transformed the Po-Matoran Dekar into a replica of Hydraxon during the Matoran's conflict with the Barraki. Dekar's mind and memories were buried under Hydraxon's, and he completely assumed the role of Hydraxon, functionally as if he never died. As Hydraxon, he recruited one of the Maxilos robots and embarked on a quest to capture everyone in the open ocean, whom he believed to be escaped Pit prisoners. This robot would later be revealed to be possessed by the essence of Makuta Teridax. After a battle with the Makuta, Hydraxon reclaimed his command over Spinax.

Hydraxon would continue to be closely involved in the battle over the Mask of Life at the bottom of the ocean around Mahri Nui. While hunting down prisoners, Hydraxon was confronted by Pridak. The Barraki leader called him a fake, and Hydraxon allowed Pridak to tell his story. Pridak explained to the jailer how a Matoran named Dekar had gone missing around the time of Hydraxon's reappearance, and that the Ignika had made a new Hydraxon out of the Matoran, attempting to demoralize him. Hydraxon insisted on his identity and defeated Pridak, jailing the Barraki.

He and Spinax continued their task to capture the Pit escapees. After capturing Ehlek and Kalmah, Hydraxon was met with assistance from Lesovikk and Sarda. Since then, they managed to capture several of the former prisoners, including the remaining Barraki and Nocturn. Nocturn later attempted to escape, so Hydraxon killed him. Carapar and Takadox were later released by Brutaka to accompany him on a suicide mission.

Shortly afterwards, he received a message from Helryx, ordering him to draft the Barraki in the Order's war against the Brotherhood of Makuta. He showed this message to Lesovikk, alerting the Toa to the Order's existence, and released the Barraki. He then began assisting the Order of Mata Nui in their war efforts.

When Teridax was finally defeated by Mata Nui, Hydraxon migrated to Spherus Magna.

Abilities & Tools

Hydraxon does not have any natural abilities or powers, but he is a master of weaponry and an expert at all variations of combat tactics with all types of weapons. He also has very sensitive hearing. Later, the Ignika would give Hydraxon immunity to the effects of the Pit Mutagen.

Like all other members of the Order of Mata Nui, Hydraxon's mind is shielded from mental attack. However, the section of his mind that holds his memories as Dekar is not, and is accessible to mind-readers.

Hydraxon has thick protective armor, and wears a Breathing Helmet to allow him to function underwater. He also possesses a wide range of weaponry and tools, including a Cordak Blaster, Wrist Blades, Exploding Boomerangs, and two Back Blades which can be launched telekinetically.

Personality

Hydraxon has a strong sense of justice and is dedicated to his job, unrelentingly pursuing escapees from the Pit. Despite faint recollections of his time as a Matoran, Hydraxon is oblivious to his origins. Even when presented with evidence of his true past, he refuses to acknowledge its legitimacy - including the death of the original Hydraxon - and remains focused on his assigned tasks.

Trivia

Hydraxon's theme is 'Mermaid from the Uncharted Land,' which originates from the Touhou Project series as the theme for Wakasagihime.
