Great Being of Desire

Backstory

Long before the 'Prime' Universe was created, the Great Beings wandered the cosmic void aimlessly. Eventually, they discovered each other, which led them to realize the extent of their powers. In order to express themselves, they attempted to create unique bodies for themselves, but discovered that the void would rapidly destroy their creations in a process called Entropy.

After eons of experimentation, they discovered they could open pocket universes in the dimensions of space-time below them, and proceeded to create the multiverse, an exponentially expanding series of interwoven dimensions and timelines. Once inside the multiverse, the Great Beings could create to their hearts content. Three Great Beings volunteered to stay in the void in order to anchor and conceal the multiverse from destruction. Out of respect for these Great Beings, they where called Great Sages.

Tomidas accompanied a group of Great Beings to the planet of Spherus Magna, to start a testing ground for their experiments. To their surprise, they encountered a native living entity, Annona, inhabiting the planet. Annona tried to feed on the dreams of the Great Beings, but found their minds too strange to do so. The Great Beings drove Annona deep underground by trying to feed on her dreams in response.

The Great Beings then created a civilization of sapient beings in their own image. This civilization was made up of the Glatorian and the Agori, who split into eight known tribes based on the elements found on the planet. The Great Beings then integrated themselves with the Spherus Magnans, and went on to become their scientist-kings. The Spherus Magnans then gave them the name 'Great Beings.'

Tomidas was fascinated by the sapient Spherus Magnans' desires, and would often listen to and grant their desires in exchange for their praise or admiration. Because of this, Tomidas became one of the most popular Great Beings.

Led by Angonce, the 'Great Spirit Project' was started, in which he intended to create a pair of automatons to explore and gather data from the universe and automatically return it to him. With the help of the Spherus Magnans, they constructed a prototype version of these robots. However, its power source was unstable, and the prototype exploded, scattering pieces of itself across the desert of Bara Magna.

Because of this failure, the Great Beings doubled down on their experiments, instead delegating leadership of the tribes to seven newly created Element Lords. The Element Lords would soon discover Energized Protodermis leaking from the core of the planet. Seeing this as a more viable power source, the Great Beings started construction of the first robot, which Angonce would name Mata Nui. The tribes also began fighting over the Energized Protodermis, which would lead to the start of the Core War.

Once enough construction was complete on the robot, the beings Tren Krom, Artakha, and Karzahni were created and given purpose within the robot. After that, the Great Beings created a new species of bio-mechanical beings inspired by the Glatorian and Agori called Matoran, whose purpose was to maintain Mata Nui from within. After much debate, the Great Beings decided not to make the Matoran sapient, in order to prevent situations like the Core War from happening within Mata Nui. Tomidas was in favor of this decision.

As a final failsafe for the project, Angonce had Kanohi create another legendary mask - the Kanohi Ignika - to revive Mata Nui if anything where to happen to him. Out of curiosity, Tomidas touched the Ignika and was cursed to bring anything he touched to life. This curse drove Tomidas insane, so Angonce and Kanohi imprisoned him within a space-time sphere, and bound it in chains in an abandoned fortress in the forest of Bota Magna. They then hid the Ignika in a chamber below Mt. Valmai in the Matoran Universe.

While imprisoned, Tomidas would stretch his limited powers as far as possible. He sent psychic waves from his prison out into the multiverse in an attempt to contact someone to free him. However, this was largely unsuccessful, which only drove Tomidas even more mad. Longing for the days of his freedom, Tomidas created a false body for himself atop his prison, which he could only barely manipulate.

After eons of imprisonment, Tomidas was finally able to contact Vezon as he traveled through the multiverse using a Kanohi Olmak. Tomidas disabled Vezon's mask power and froze space-time around him to prevent his escape. Vezon then bargained to free Tomidas if the Great Being would release him.

Knowing Vezon was not powerful enough to free him, Tomidas had Vezon use his Olmak to rescue Artakha, Helryx, Axonn, Brutaka, Makuta Miserix, Lewa, Tuyet, Hafu, and Kapura from space, and bring them to the fortress on Bota Magna. After meeting Tomidas, the gathered beings debated whether to free him. At one point, Helryx got too close to Tomidas, and her armor came to life and began strangling her. Lewa, Hafu and Kapura later left the fortress.

While in the fortress, Mata Nui managed to defeat Makuta Teridax and reunite Spherus Magna, transforming the moon of Bota Magna into the forest of Bota Magna. Unbeknownst to the beings within the fortress, another Great Being, Velika, was rigging the fortress to explode, intending to wipe out many of the most powerful beings from the Matoran Universe.

Velika's explosives went off, killing Axonn and Brutaka. Tomidas survived, but remained imprisoned, and Helryx was rescued by Artakha, who revealed himself to be a Great Being in disguise. Miserix, Tuyet, and Vezon's fates are currently unknown.

Tomidas eventually convinced the living chains that bound him to drag his prison away from the ruins of the fortress. He made it deep into the forest of Bota Magna before the chains ultimately changed their mind.

Eventually, Tomidas would be freed, and recovered the alternate-universe Kanohi Ignika from the Dimensional Relocation of Luna Magna. The mask had turned black from its countdown ending, but when Tomidas touched it, the curse from the original Ignika flowed from him into the alternate-universe Ignika. This restored the mask's color, and Tomidas incorporated it into his armor, which effectively canceled out the curse.

Abilities & Tools

As a Great Being, Tomidas is from a higher plain of reality, and is able to manipulate the universe around him. This allows him to create and destroy matter, energy, and spirits, but only from within the multiverse. He is unable to die, or be killed.

As a study, Tomidas observed the desires of sapient beings. He felt fulfilled by granting the wishes and desires of the Spherus Magnans, before he was imprisoned. He refers to himself as the 'Great Being of Desire.'

When Tomidas' power is combined with that of another Great Being, they gain the ability to imprison a Great Being within an orb of space-time, which can only be undone if two or more Great Beings combine their power again.

Tomidas created a longsword for himself to wield. While it is ornate in design, it has no special abilities, and is just for looks.

Tomidas acquired the alternate-universe Kanohi Ignika from the Dimensional Relocation of Luna Magna, which had turned black from it's countdown ending. By incorporating it into his armor, he is able to cancel out the curse from the original Ignika.

Kanohi, the Great Being of Emotion, created the Kanohi Garai based on Tomidas' appearance. The mask was given the power of Gravity, based on Tomidas' studies, and how sapient beings are attracted to their desires.

Personality

Like all Great Beings, Tomidas is highly intelligent when compared to most sapient beings, due to being from a higher plain of reality.

Tomidas preferred ruling lesser beings over getting along with his fellow Great Beings. He was fascinated by the desires of sapient beings, and would use his abilities to grant their desires in exchange for their admiration. This made Tomidas more popular than the other Great Beings, who found this behavior annoying.

Even though Tomidas would grant their wishes, the Spherus Magnans found that he wasn’t very good at listening, and would almost never get their requests 100% correct.

The Ignika's curse drove Tomidas partially insane, forcing the Great Beings to imprison him before he endangered the Spherus Magnans.

Trivia

Tomidas' character design is directly inspired by Toyosatomimi no Miko, a character from the Touhou Project series. Tomidas also shares Miko’s theme, 'Shoutoku Legend ~ True Administrator.'
